Caring for your Canine Companion

Your new puppy will  need food, water, shelter, a safe environment, veterinary care, lots of exercise, plenty of safe chew toys, basic obedience training, and a lot of loving companionship.  I hope the following discussions will help you provide the best of care for you dog.
  • Owners  have an important role in the prevention and treatment of various injuries and illnesses, and protection from a host of hazards.
  • Consult with your breeder, veterinarian and obedience instructor if you have questions or problems regarding the care of your dog.
  • There are several good books that discuss canine care.  A reference book at home can be very helpful.  Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook, by Delbert Carlson, DVM and James Giffin, MD is an excellent resource.
